Vietnam Airlines, ACB and Visa unveil Lotusmiles Pay: A new era of loyalty and payment integration

07/23/2025

Vietnam Airlines, Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), and Visa have officially introduced Lotusmiles Pay, a co-branded card that integrates Vietnam Airlines’ Frequent Flyer Program with international payment capabilities. Designed to bridge aviation with financial and consumer ecosystems, the product delivers a more integrated and rewarding experience for Lotusmiles members.

Lotusmiles Pay serves dual functions as a Lotusmiles membership card and an international payment card. Available in both credit and debit types, the card enables users to make purchases at millions of Visa-accepting merchants globally, while automatically accruing Lotusmiles in accordance with the program’s policy. Issued and managed by ACB, the card can be registered digitally via the Lotusmiles app, with spending monitored through the ACB ONE platform.

With a loyalty base of nearly seven million members, Vietnam Airlines will lead product marketing, oversee reward accumulation, and manage tier upgrades based on defined spending thresholds. The airline retains ownership of transaction data, leveraging these insights to develop personalized promotions, behavior-based analytics, and cross-selling initiatives targeted to customer preferences.

Mr. Le Hong Ha, President & CEO of Vietnam Airlines, stated: “For us, digital transformation goes beyond technology adoption – it’s about reimagining customer engagement: understanding better, serving smarter, and delivering seamless experiences. Lotusmiles Pay brings us closer to that ambition by enabling us to be present not just in flight, but in our customers’ everyday spending.”

As the issuing and operational partner, ACB plays a central role in delivering a “one-stop” cardholder experience. Leveraging agile product development capabilities and deep consumer insights, ACB positions Lotusmiles Pay as a flagship offering within its premium strategy – targeting affluent, high-mobility individuals seeking cohesive, high-touch customer services.

Mr. Tu Tien Phat, CEO of ACB, commented: “We are proud to serve as the issuing and processing partner for this unique card. With our financial analytics expertise, robust infrastructure, and proven track record in premium client service, ACB is committed to delivering a smart, seamless, and elevated financial journey for Lotusmiles members.”

With its global payment platform, Visa provides international payment technology infrastructure for Lotusmiles Pay, ensuring widespread acceptance both domestically and internationally. Visa currently partners with over 60 airlines in more than 30 countries, supporting more than 700 airline co-brand programs. Additionally, according to sample airline co-brand portfolio data taken from VisaNet as of January 2024, co-brand cardholders spend 13 times more on member airlines and conduct 12 times more airline transactions than standard cardholders. These findings underscore the value of co-branded cards in meeting customer needs, while providing access to exclusive privileges curated through Visa’s extensive platform.

Ms. Dang Tuyet Dung, Visa Country Manager for Vietnam and Laos, shared: “This collaboration with Vietnam Airlines and ACB reinforces Visa’s long-term commitment to accelerating digital payments in Vietnam. Lotusmiles Pay seamlessly connects banking, aviation, and technology, designed to meet the needs of omnichannel consumers and maximize value at every touchpoint.”

Regarding features, Lotusmiles Pay credit cardholders can choose between two benefit structures: unlimited accrual of award and qualifying miles based on spending, or a hybrid model combines award miles with membership tier upgrades (Titanium, Gold, or Platinum) based on aggregate spending over any 12-month period. For debit cardholders, mileage accrual is based on both spending activity and the average balance of the linked CASA account, segmented by transaction value and domestic versus international spend.

Following a successful internal pilot phase in May 2025, Lotusmiles Pay will be officially available from July 2025 across digital platforms and partner service channels.

The launch of Lotusmiles Pay affirms Vietnam Airlines’ commitment to modernizing its loyalty platform, extending value beyond travel, and embedding itself more deeply into customers’ digital lifestyles. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the airline’s broader digitalization and personalization strategy, designed to enhance the experience and lifetime value of Lotusmiles members in the digital era.
